The Girls are producing

Happy New Year everyone.
I know, it's been an embarrassingly long time since my last post.  I don't know where the time goes.

Today I am showing what our "girls" are producing.

We are getting between 42 and 50+ eggs a day.  It's crazy-good.

I love to make an egg white scramble everyday and I can easily use 3-6 eggs a day for that.

Most of the eggs are varying shades of brown, some as light as taupe.
We do have 3 girls laying green and blue eggs.  I love the pop of color.

They're so cool.

We've had some double yolkers too.

Did you know that eggs are graded based on how fresh they are?
Typically, the highest (freshest) grade you can buy at the grocery store is a AA egg.  I'm happy to say these are AAA (fresh).  The yolks are so rich, it's amazing.

It's funny; no matter how many times we collect the eggs,
we're still amazed to find fresh/warm eggs in the nesting box
and the look on the kids' faces, is priceless.

Have a great week everyone.

I have a project almost completed and I can't wait to share it with you.

  1. Yumm. I love eggs. We raised chickens when I was a kid too and it was always our job to take care of them. My neighbor is raising chickens and every once in a while we are treated to a dozen eggs.
